Want to keep your skin soft this Autumn? Here’s how!

Certainly, we’re not the only ones who are sad to say that it’s that time of the year – The time to say goodbye to summer and hello to autumn.

Not only will the season change see us missing the hot sun on our skin, the ocean breeze in our hair, and the sand in our toes, it will also see us experiencing changes to our skin too – who knew?

But don’t worry, because you can do something about it!

So, if you want to keep your skin soft in autumn, keep reading, so we can tell you how!

1. Moisturise

As obvious as telling you to moisturise may seem, many people don’t moisturise as much or as often as they should, particularly throughout the cooler months.

On autumn days, when your skin is feeling as dry as a sandpaper, in addition to applying a moisturiser daily, your skin will love you for applying a hydration mask or a face oil at night too.

Doing so will allow your skin to absorb extra moisture whilst enjoying your beauty sleep.

2. Hydrate

Similar to moisturising, many of us don’t drink as much water as we should.

Without adequate water intake, skin appears dull, and wrinkles and pores are more prominent.  What’s more, dermatologists have found that a variety of skin structures supporting collagen, require water to work effectively. Better get down to drinking that water, right?

But how much do we need to drink?  The commonly known rule is 8 glasses of water per day, which amounts to approximately 2 litres.  There is no single formula which fits everyone, as factors such as your height, weight and exercise habits all contribute to the amount your body needs.  However, an average of 2-3 litres per day is optimal for most.

It’s also important to spread your water drinking throughout the day, rather than trying to guzzle all that water in one sitting!

3. Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate

To make way for new and improved, smooth skin, you need to exfoliate the dry, dead skin away, far away…

Not only is this a great practice for seasonal change, it’s a good weekly habit to get into too.  Body scrubs remove dead cells, dry skin and increase blood circulation – They feel and smell great too!

Feel like spoiling yourself for this seasonal transition?  Why not treat yourself to a body scrub at a day spa?  Or better yet, you can create a weekly ritual where you pamper yourself at home using some of our natural body scrubs.

4. You are what you eat

We’ve all heard the saying, “You are what you eat.”  Yes, it applies to our skin too!

Eating foods rich in healthy unsaturated fats, such as oily fish, avocado and olive oil, help keep the skin looking and feeling smooth and hydrated.

Want your skin to look even better?  Limit your intake of salty foods, alcohol, and sugar – We can hear you wishing there was another option… But trust us, your skin will love you for it, and you will soon love the compliments!

So, as you say goodbye to summer and hello to autumn, you can now be confident that these tips will help your skin look amazingly soft and hydrated.
